What's at Stake

The current climate in Indiana and federally is the restriction of the rights of trans, intersex, and non-binary people and their right to exist. Current legislation at the statehouse is to erase legal recognition of people who identify as trans, intersex, and non-binary.
 

Our Commitment

 
We stand firmly in support  of members of the LGBTQIA+ community and the rights of trans, intersex, and non-binary people to exist and to express their gender identity however they choose. It is not the government’s right to interfere in individuals’ personal lives. We support everyone’s right to love, exist, and express themselves in the way that all individuals and communities must have.

As your State Senator, I will fight to:

  • For the rights of everyone to love who they want to love.
  • Supporting the rights of our trans, intersex, and non-binary. neighbors to exist, live, work, and love in our community.
  • Maintaining full access to needed healthcare options for all individuals, regardless of gender identity.
Candidate Statement — Unlike many of the positions on this site, this commitment was written in close collaboration with my staff—70% of whom identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe in leading by listening. To me, these aren’t just ‘political issues’; they are fundamental human rights. The right to love who you want and to be who you are is a core Hoosier value. Respect shouldn’t have to be earned—it should be given freely, and as your Senator, I will fight to ensure the law reflects that.
